Safer working with tractors

The “NeVARNO s traktorjem” (Safe with Tractors) event at the AMZS Safe Driving Centre in Vransko brought together expert knowledge, practical demonstrations and hands-on driving experience with modern agricultural machinery. Farmtech supported the programme with three machines from different segments of its transport range, giving participants the opportunity to test them on the training ground.

Working with tractors and implements requires knowledge, concentration and responsible operation. Raising awareness of the safe use of agricultural machinery was the main objective of the free training programme, held on 12 July 2026 and organised by AMZS, Triglav Insurance and the Association of Slovenian Rural Youth.

Through expert presentations, practical demonstrations and supervised driving exercises, participants gained a better understanding of the most common risks associated with tractor operation and the importance of reacting correctly in unexpected situations.

When theory becomes practice

One of the highlights of the event was the rollover simulators. In a controlled environment, participants experienced first-hand the importance of wearing a seat belt and learned the correct procedure for exiting an overturned vehicle safely.
The dangers of an unprotected PTO shaft were also demonstrated in a striking and memorable way. The demonstration clearly showed how a single moment of inattention can lead to serious consequences.
Training programmes like these are invaluable because safety cannot be achieved through modern machinery alone. Equally important are the operator’s knowledge, correct hitching procedures, an appropriate driving speed and complete focus on the task at hand.

Three Farmtech machines in action

The greatest interest was attracted by the Cargocis 2600 transport tanker with a capacity of 26 m³, coupled to a John Deere 8R 410 tractor. Under the guidance of professional instructors, participants experienced the handling characteristics of a large, high-capacity tractor-trailer combination and learned more about operating a transport unit of this size.
Participants also had the opportunity to test the robust Gravis 2000 Black Edition dump trailer, designed for demanding transport applications and the movement of heavy materials. Coupled with a New Holland T7 tractor, it demonstrated its strength and stability on the training course.
The practical driving programme was completed by the compact T-Line 1000C tandem trailer paired with a New Holland T5 tractor. This smaller, highly manoeuvrable tractor-trailer combination represents a practical, versatile solution for everyday work on family farms as well as a wide range of construction and transport applications.

Safety in every task

Regardless of machine size, the fundamental principles always remain the same: correct hitching, an appropriate driving speed, understanding the weight and dimensions of the tractor-trailer combination, maintaining a safe distance and staying fully focused while operating the machine.
Larger and heavier machines require greater anticipation, but even smaller and routine tasks can quickly become dangerous if concentration is lost. That is why practical safety training is valuable for every operator, regardless of experience or farm size.
